New aquaculture lead joins from SAIC to continue network’s impact

Women in Scottish Aquaculture (WiSA), a network dedicated to supporting the growth and development of women in the aquaculture sector, is seeking a new host to ensure the group continues its impactful work in the future.

Time is running out to recognise the hardworking and inspirational figures from across the sector at the Women in Scottish Aquaculture Awards 2024.

Following the success of the Women in Scottish Aquaculture awards from the last three years, we are pleased to announce that nominations are now open for the 2024 edition.

Celebrating the role of women in delivering one of Scotland’s most valuable exports, the Women in Scottish Aquaculture (WiSA) network marked its third anniversary with a celebratory event in Edinburgh today (8th March, International Women’s Day).

In the three years that it takes a salmon to transform from fertilised egg to adult fish, WiSA has gone from a nascent idea to a mature organisation full of life, energy and impact. You can download our Three-Year Review here!

SAIC is looking for summer interns to undertake eight-week placements related to aquaculture, skills, and knowledge exchange.

WiSA has launched a new initiative to support women in rural Scotland to return to the workplace after career breaks – focusing on the range of opportunities available within the aquaculture sector.
